Metropolis 2022

The piece is a reflection on our land use and the greater use and value of prime agricultural land for urbanization. In the UK land for development is work about ten time that for agricultural use, driven by political housing stock targets and profit to farmers (long neglected by government initiatives and retail pricing) for the sale to developers.

 The piece is designed a live sculpture it is normally displayed allowing plants to grow around and up the piece. There is no process to inhibit the oxidation of the steel and so slowly the piece will decay and as this happens so nature will take back the land that the sculpture sit on.

Details

Each piece is handmade from mild steel, which ensures that each one is unique. The sculpture is available in various diameters and heights and are mounted on stone bases.
